All of our classes are open to children from as young as two. However teachers will liase with parents in some cases if it is felt that their child is too young to benefit from the class. Many students choose to do more than one class and stay with us all day on a Saturday where classes run simultaneously in the different studios. Saturday is the busiest day at counterpoint and a lively social occasion!
All students are advised to do ballet as this provides a strong technical foundation for all classes.
Ex students have been accepted at Northern Ballet School , Ballet West, Urdang, Bush Davies, London Studio Centre, Doreen Birds, Arts Educational, Masters College, Performers, and Northern School of Contemporaray Dance, among others.
'Counterpoint School of Performing Arts, prides itself, rightly, on sustaining the highest standards of teaching and performance. They have an exemplary professional and artistic commitment to all of their students ranging in age from 3-adult, whilst also fostering an enthusiastic, exciting enjoyment of all the disciplines-ballet, modern, jazz, tap and musical theatre. Imaginative, innovative choreography combining with expertise in teaching technique, produces some of the best dance experiences seen locally: to be able to stage and and sustain the full length ballet 'The Nutcracker' is testimony to the quality, strength, expertise and talent of the team of teachers, led by Sheila Cunliffe.'
